PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

* Participate in the selection of maintenance staff to meet growth of the department, coordinate and provide training.

* Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

* Writes and delivers performance evaluations and assists in employee goal formulation.

* Fosters commitment and teamwork within the department and organization

* Coaches and counsels employees relative to performance issues.

* Work with employees to correct deficiencies; delivers disciplinary action, if required.

* Concerned with all elements affecting subordinates and the quality and safety of their work environment.

* Interprets company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.

* Reports any unsafe actions or operations to the Safety Supervisor, to aid in provision for and discipline of Plant Safety Program

* Communicate company goals/philosophies to employees.

* Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

* Supervises the maintenance staff, including regular inspection of work to ensure quality, quantity, timeliness, safety and environmental compliance.

* Documents and reports on maintenance department performance.

* Participate in the preparation and administration of assigned program budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.

* Coordinate facility and equipment projects utilizing plant resources and contractors.

* Promotes continuous improvement; recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

* Suggests and executes changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

* Maintains time and attendance records.

* Selects, supervises, and monitors performance of vendors, contractors and related service contracts.

* Supervises preventive maintenance programs

* Supervises or assists with all new machinery installation projects and/or renovations.

* Analyzes actual and potential maintenance problems and recommend corrective actions.

* Assists all department supervisors with problems arising from equipment failure.

* Responsible for JIT/JSA training of Maintenance Technicians.

* Responds to varying needs to maintain quality standards.

* Implement, train and supervise predictive maintenance program.

* Perform all other duties as assigned

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assist Production/Maintenance Manager with personnel problems and any other problems arising from the day-to-day operation of the plant.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or an acceptable combination of education, related experience, supervision and increasing job responsibility in a manufacturing environment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Driver's License

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients or customers.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficiency in PC software including MS Office.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, basic algebra and geometry.
