Position: Process Engineer (Full - Time)

Must Haves

Day to Day

  • work with chemist, mold room, and press room to work out new process for new products. Also work with existing products to work through legacy lines to make more efficient and bring up to 2015 standards

REPORTS TO:

  • This position reports to the Company's B&C Operations Manager. The Product/Project Engineer will work closely with his/her colleagues in the B&C and Technical departments and will have significant interaction with other groups such as Quality and Finishing.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Involvement in all aspects of the rubber manufacturing process/methods to support, improve and
    advance technology. Ownership of new product developments and launches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

New/Existing Products:

  • Develop, evaluates and improves manufacturing process methods. "Hands on" involvement is necessary.
  • Utilize Company data acquisition sources to evaluate processes and suggest/ implement improvements.��
    Plan and develop experimental test programs (DOE).
  • Confer with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations while implementing production process improvements.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Work closely with appropriate personnel to help ensure efficient production methods are implemented on new products (pre-production launches).
  • Review and analyze data, such as customer design proposals and specifications, to determine feasibility and costs.
  • Provide customers with requested/required information for design and approvals.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers while maintaining������the comany's������best interests at all times.
    Review and create PPAPs--including Control Plan, PFMEA.
  • Quote new potential business.

New/Existing Equipment:

  • Communicate with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment and materials.
  • Evaluate, test and implement products/equipment according to specifications and quality standards.��
    Lead projects by directing and coordinating fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Ensure that safety protocols and environmental impacts are reviewed to meet any applicable
    standards.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance and repair activities to optimize utilization of machines and
    equipment while minimizing downtime.

General/ Technical Responsibilities:

  • Manage design through specific phases or aspects such as: Input, Output, Verification and Validation.
  • Prepare and present both interim, and complete, project reports to senior management and others as
    necessary.
  • Identify areas of concern and take the initiative to address them as needed.
  • Exhibit sound judgment with minimal consultation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess excellent computer skills - excel, power point, minitab
  • 7 plus years experience
  • CAD experience is a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, organized and capable of scheduling each day's commitments.
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize workload in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing methods is beneficial.
  • Six Sigma, continuous improvement or other problem solving methodology is a plus

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum BS in engineering
  • Quantifiable rubber/ plastic related processing experience may be used in lieu of college diploma.
  • Exposure to, and understanding of, automotive and aerospace quality standards.
