Providence is calling a Food and Nutrition Cook II Room Service to the Food and Nutrition Department at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
Under limited supervision of a supervisor or Director of Dietary Services, the Cook II will provide courteous, friendly food service while preparing required portions of food items for both patients and non-patients utilizing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles during all phases of food handling. This position uses experience and knowledge of proper food handling techniques to prep items used in their area, to serve all food service guests and will be responsible to set up, stock, and clean service areas.
In this position you will:
* Prepare hot and cold food items, using a variety of cooking equipment, while following scratch recipes and department specifications.
* Maintain all foods at proper temperatures, during all phases of cooking process -- Prep, Cooking, Holding and Cooling.
* Work cooperatively as an essential member of the Dietary team.
* Comply with all hospital and department standards and become fully knowledgeable about regulatory requirements in food service in a health care environment.
* Ensure work area is properly sanitized before daily production begins.
* Secure needed food supplies and small equipment and ensures they are properly stored in work area.
* Review production sheets and follows standardized recipes for production.
Required qualifications for this position include:
* Two (2) years experience in quantity food preparation.
* Regular attendance.
* Ability to read, write and speak English.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Specific vocational training.
