Join the team at Homme youth and Family Programs, a therapeutic residential youth treatment facility for at risk youth many of which have a long history of trauma and delinquency, as a Youth Counselor. We strive to help create a safe and therapeutic environment to help foster positive growth. Interested candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, problem solving ability, and integrity.
Under supervision, Youth Counselors maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for youth clients; perform care and treatment in a case setting; counsel at-risk youths and guide them towards reaching healthy goals and lifestyles.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:

Interacts with clients on an individual or group basis providing guidance, positive role modeling, and a positive supportive influence

Maintaining sight and sound supervision at all times, provides oversight and care for clients in residential settings and in the community within established policies and procedures

Records observations relating to actions and behavior of clients and maintains records and reports as required; daily documentation, i.e. weeklies, logs

Maintaining sight and sound supervision at all times, transports and escorts clients between facilities, meetings, appointments, and/or other activities

Ensures clients and their living space are organized, safe and free of contraband

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services., which includes Social Work, Psychology or Sociology, Law Enforcement or a closely related field preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of work experience in the field of Human Services is preferred.

Possess emotional integrity to work with challenging at-risk youth and families

Have the ability to use patience, self-control and flexibility when required; have the ability to accept and follow through with direction; and possess the ability to recognize boundaries.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and car – Motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record required.
