Charter Communications currently seeks Commercial Technicians for our Business Class Technical Operations Department.

Position can be based at our Paidge Ave Brooklyn, NY location; College Point, NY; Staten Island, NY; or Northern Manhattan, NY.

Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position

Key Responsibilities:

•Will be expected to train and become proficient in all job duties including: primary installations, underground installations, additional outlets, moves, pre-wires, post-wires, surveys, and basic troubleshooting. This covers all Business Class Services offerings – Video, High-Speed Data and Voice.

•Complete grounding, audits, signal, leakage tracking, tracing, converter retrievals, delinquent disconnects/collections, new installations, reconnects, disconnects and relocates of cable service at business/office locations in aerial and underground areas in accordance with work orders issued and TWC procedures and standards.

•Communicate cable TV services, converter operation, high-speed and wideband data services and Business Class Phone services.

•Provide customers with channel guides, welcome kits and promotional literature. Attempt to sell additional outlets and additional services.

•Maintain up to date knowledge of all channels and services offered by the system.

•Report any accidents, losses, injuries or property damage to Foreman and customer where appropriate.

Qualifications/Skill Set:

•Must have a High School Diploma or GED; at least 0-3 months of previous experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Able to climb ladders and gaff utility poles to a height of approximately 20 feet. Must be able to lift and move a ladder weighing approximately 70 pounds which requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and repetitive motions.

•Must be able to work with various hand tools such as electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

•Must have a valid driver’s license from either: NY, NJ, CT or PA with a clean driving record.

•Able to prioritize while working in a fast paced environment.

•Must successfully complete all company required training.

•Will also be required to work overtime, weekends and late shifts as needed.

•This position is part of a bargaining unit.

The ladders, buckets and other climbing equipment necessary to perform the work of a field technician are rated for maximum weight capacities which includes the weight of the technician plus any tools the technician is carrying. Exceeding the weight of such ladders, buckets or other climbing equipment poses a serious risk to the safety of technicians and the public, and may violate state and/or federal limits for such equipment. The maximum body weight of a field technician for use of the majority of such equipment is 325 pounds.
