Position Summary

This position is responsible for supervision, coordination and efficient functioning of the Production Department to assure desired overall quality of the product to the customer.

Major Responsibilities

  • Complete initial, in process and final quality checklists.
  • Continuously select, guide, coach, mentor, review and develop employees to result in an energized workforce, high employee morale, low employee turnover and high performance teams.  Recognize and address performance issues.
  • Identify customer alts and notify Production Manager in a timely manner.
  • Partnering with the Production Manager to identify, implement, communicate and train on process improvement changes that will maximize efficiencies while maintaining quality.  This would include production standard input, workflow changes, or other process changes.
  • Review daily staffing needs and utilize staffing tools as needed.
  • Partner with HR and other Supervisors to ensure that staffing, new hires and training for all new hires is being achieved.  This would include: communication with HR and temp agencies, identification of potential staffing shortfalls, and shift adjustment suggestions.
  • Promoting quality at all levels of the work force through partnering with Quality by participating and overseeing Quality investigations when requested.  Ensure department compliance with quality systems.
  • Working with production employees to communicate and achieve production standards and goals.
  • Providing technical and mechanical assistance to ensure that downtime is minimized.  This would include initial diagnosis of downtime issues, partnering with resources to resolve downtime and anticipating and correcting potential downtime pitfalls.
  • Coordinate proper preventative maintenance (PM) is being performed. 
  • Facilitating shift change process to include:  communication to team, alignment of work with employees, hot handoff execution, and adjusting work based on priorities.
  • Monitoring and enforcing CPI policy adherence.
  • Empowering individuals to not only make decisions but to gain involvement in process improvement efforts.
  • Assembles documentation to be used for completing performance evaluations.
  • Must have flexibility to train on 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Direct Mail, Insertion, Mail House experience
  • 2 year degree preferred
  • Management training courses, seminars or experience
  • 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Light industrial manufacturing or binder experience
  • Hands on experience working with a variety of machines.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong leadership, communication and self-motivational skills
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Customer service oriented
