Seamstress/Sewing Technician

Awning Company is currently seeking an experienced Seamstress/Sewing Technician to work in the area of Pittsburgh. The primary function of this position is to create commercial and residential awnings made from a variety of fabric material. This position must be able to read specifications written in English from a work order so that jobs can be accurately produced. Attention to detail and the ability to stay on task to meet production deadlines is critical. Additional relevant skills include:

* Read work orders written in English
* Accurately use a tape measure 
* Ability to add, subtract, divide, and multiply using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
* Operate a commercial style sewing machine 
* Ability and desire to work on a full time basis, approximately 40 hours per week

Hourly pay to be determined based on experience. Paid holidays/vacation.

Required experience:
* Previous sewing experience: looking for an experienced awning stitcher/fabricator. Applicant MUST have experience in operating commercial sewing machines to stitch Sunbrella awning material (or similar). Applicant should be able to cut, map, sew, and mount awning material. Welding experience to make awning frames is a plus, but not required. The individual must be detail oriented and accurate with a focus on quality workmanship. Be able to work well under deadlines without sacrificing quality.
