About this job

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
  • Prepares monthly package of information, which is distributed internally to management.
  • Coordinates the preparation of schedules related to the year-end audit.
  • Coordinates the reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain fixed asset information in Great Plains including purchases, sales and transfers.
  • Maintains and charges equipment rates to the projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field with 5 years experience in various areas of accounting.  An acceptable equivalency in education and experience will be considered.  Desired credentials would be a CPA or CMA certification.  Prior experience in a construction environment would be beneficial.  Other desirable experience would include prior general knowledge of internal company operating systems. If required by job responsibilities incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction contracts, construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to effectively present information to upper management and public groups as necessary both in written or oral formats. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The incumbent is required to walk daily on construction sites in rough terrain, and climb ladders and facilities under construction.  The incumbent is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.  The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. And occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment.  There is low to moderate noise in this work environment.
