Receiver - Full Time

What is my job:

The job of the Receiver is to ensure the finest wines/other products are available for customers throughout the day by working closely with store employees as well as outside vendors to ensure products are accurately delivered to the store. You’ll be the first step to getting products out on the shelves and available for customers to enjoy.

  • Handle billing, credits, transfers, inventory, damages and variances
  • Ensure accuracy of purchase orders
  • Maintain inventory; work with wine and spirits and beer vendors to ensure proper product levels
  • Break down product loads and organize the backroom for efficient processing on the sales floor
  • Follow security procedures for the back room to minimize loss
  • Properly handle all product and equipment, maintain a clean work area, in accordance with safety guidelines with the aim of reducing shrink in the store

Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

  • Verify all incoming deliveries; ensure the quantity and type of products received are correct and match invoices, refusing delivery of products that do not meet store standards
  • Ensure product quality received at the Store (undamaged, in code, etc.)
  • Ensure product levels are sustained and products are available, work with Procurement to develop the plan for storage of product

Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Service

  • Build relationships with customers making incredible customer service a priority over other tasks
  • Perform all steps in the checkout process including properly scanning and bagging items at a rate that meets store requirements, accept and process different forms of payment and making accurate change
  • Utilize resources continuously to expand knowledge about the wide variety of wines/other products available in the store to grow and develop professionally, share acquired knowledge to assist customers

What skills, learnings, and experiences are preferred and will set me apart?

  • Customer service/ receiving experience in a food service, grocery or retail setting
  • Experience ordering products and handling inventory
  • Ability to assist all customers in finding the perfect product for whatever their needs may be
  • Knowledge, passion for and experience working with wine

Work environment:

  • Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching
  • Will be required to spend time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
  • May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • The average weight range of items lifted is 5-40 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds occasionally
