Description:Qualification:Education\: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
JOB SUMMARY\:
- Has experience in initiating and monitoring intravenous therapy (IV).
- Incorporates knowledge of the nursing process and the professional standards of nursing in daily practice.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development on initiating therapy.
- Applies knowledge of various IV access devices to determine appropriate access device for patient.
- Serves as resource on IV issues.
Experience\: Two years nursing experience
One year experience in starting IV’s preferred
Licensure or Certification\:
- Active RN license in Tennessee
- BCLS required within first six months
- Certified RN Intravenous Therapy preferred
Equipment/Skills\:
- Use of general patient care equipment and communication equipment.
- Use of unit-specific equipment (computers, copiers, etc.).
- Good telephone and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changes in health care technology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology specific to vascular system.
