We have an exciting Benefits Specialist opportunity, set in a fun, fast-paced and flexible environment. This Anaheim located team is looking for a current benefit specialist looking to enhance their project management, process creation and global benefit skills!

Our Benefits Specialist supports 15k benefit eligible associates within the US and Canada. They are responsible for delivering high quality service to our customer- our associates. This person will be responsible for answering e-mails and phone calls, assisting with enrollment needs, updating internal systems, processing benefit administrative tasks and being a liaison between our associates and the benefit carriers. This role will develop your project management, process creation and global benefit skills. We are looking for someone with 1 to 2 years of experience in benefits.

Responsibilities:
• Day to Day Benefit & 401k Administration for 12k employees throughout the US and Canada, ensuring we meet our department Service Level Agreement promise.
• Work with employees, carriers and benefit advisor(s) to advise on benefit questions, comments and concerns.
• Create standard work, processes and procedures within the benefit administration function to gain efficiencies

Qualifications:
• 2+ years in Human Resources and/or Benefits (basic understanding of benefit types, programs etc.)
• Superior customer service and organizational skills
• Strong project management and multi-tasking skills
• Self-starter and motivator- has created processes and procedures
• Experience working within an HRIS system

Position Summary

The Benefits Specialist is accountable for performing the day-to-day and administrative functions for the Company's benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, 401(k) and leave of absence policies, in compliance with ERISA, HIPPA, COBRA, OSHA, and applicable Federal and/or State employment laws.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Benefit Plan Administration
  • The Benefits Specialist administers and communicates the company’s benefits (health and welfare) in regards to plan options, policy features, enrollment and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a current "specialist" level understanding of Company's benefit plans and trends, program offerings and regulatory benefit requirements.
  • Provide guidance to Company's multi-state Associates, acting as a liaison between third-party benefit vendors and Associates and advise employees on eligibility, coverage, and other benefits matters in a clear and concise manner; Assistance to employees and/or dependents in resolving escalated benefit issues or corrections to benefit plans or enrollment.
  • Process and audit Associate benefit changes or updates in payroll system and with third- party vendors.
  • Maintain the Benefit website including changes, upgrades, design of new pages and/or third-party benefit links.
  • Assist in the coordination, facilitation, and communication of Open Enrollment.
  • Compiles and maintains benefits records in associate file s and completes documents including court orders and State forms.
  • Advise employees on required benefit premiums while on leave when applicable.
  • Track leave payments in LOA payment system and interface with payroll as needed.
  • Complete State requests for information in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications


Education Level: (Preferred): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent job-related work experience



Field of Study/Area of Experience: Human Resources Management or Business Administration
  • 2-4 years of experience administering health and welfare benefit programs


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, DOL, IRS, FMLA, HIPAA, PPACA, ADA
  • Solid knowledge of fundamental issues surrounding health and welfare and savings (401(k)) programs
  • Human Resources generalist experience a plus
  • Interpersonal savvy and ability to develop peer relationships
  • Ability to plan by incorporating good problem solving skills and prioritizing to obtain results
  • Must exhibit managerial courage, excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – spreadsheets, word processing, presentation development
  • Oracle, PeopleSoft, ADP or other HR system experience required

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
