Description of Job

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the on-site control of a Florida Highway Patrol communications center in compliance with Florida Highway Patrol Policy, Florida Crime Information Center rules and regulations, and Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations. This position is responsible for maintaining effective internal communications with supervisors and subordinates in keeping with the agency standards and expectations for communications effectiveness.

Notes:

Incumbents of this position are required to be 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) certified. Selected candidates who do not hold a valid Florida 911PST certification at the time of hire will be required to become certified within 6 months of the date of hire.

Job Related Requirements:

The selected applicant must be at least 18 years of age; High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Applicant must bring a copy of this document to the scheduled interview in order to proceed with the selection process.

A complete background, criminal record check, drug screen and Florida driver license check will be conducted on the selected applicant(s).The selected applicant must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check.

In accordance with F.S. 322, selected applicant must possess a valid Class E or higher driver's license; not a learner's license. Selected applicants must have no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations of the driving privilege for a minimum of three (3) years prior to employment and must also maintain a driving record with no more than three (3) chargeable motor vehicle crash or any violation defined in Chapter 316, Florida Statutes during any consecutive (3) year period of employment.

SELECTION PROCESS INFORMATION:

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to pre-employment fingerprinting, drug testing, and a background investigation.

The process for selecting applicant(s) for this position could take up to six months. Following the six month period, a new application must be submitted to an open advertisement in order to be considered for that vacancy.

HSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
