Employees can be working either in the prep area, or the finish prep area. Employees could be placed in either section and be crossed trained on both.

Tools that are used: Hand Torch, File, Pneumatic air tools. If employees have never used some of the tools they will be trained.

Prep area: Employees will be taking the dunnage or plastic shipping tubs off the press and place them on the work station. They will be using an pneumatic air drill to cut out the inner part of the dunnage. The inner part of the dunnage is a plastic container that holds specific automotive parts. Employees will cut out the middle and remove the excess plastic trim. They will then also take a filer to removed excess plastic flash around the dunnage and cut out the holes for where the parts are going to be held. Once the holes are punched out the employee will be using a hand torch to burn off the excess plastic around the edges and to smooth the edges out. Once this is complete the employee will then lift the dunnage to the finish prep pile for final inspection and repeat the process. Employees doing this correctly will make sure that they don't have extra work for the finish prep to remove.

Finish Prep: Employees in the finish prep department will do final visual checks of the dunnage and remove any further excess trim or flash that the prep department missed using a filer, router or a torch. Employees then will add a poly urethane piece to that sits in the holes for the automotive parts to sit perfectly and remain stable. Once the process is complete an employee will final inspect the dunnage and put it into a completed pile for the Hilo driver to pick up.
