OVERVIEW
The Production Planner/Scheduler is responsible for ensuring that the production line flows without incident and in the event of a problem will diagnose and fix the issue and inform the necessary parties about any resulting schedule changes. The Production Planner/Scheduler must have knowledge of each stage of the production process from procurement of raw materials to finished goods and to effectively organize the necessary workers and to execute a job plan that will keep production running on schedule.
REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 5 years previous work experience as a Production Planner/Scheduler in a production facility is required. The Production Planner/Scheduler must be able to work with the enterprise software (ShopTech E2), Microsoft Office, and communicate with other employees, staff and customers regarding potential problems and schedule or production changes. Previous experience with printing and box manufacturing a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
Because the Production Planner/Scheduler is responsible for organizing operations over the entire production cycle, good people, organizational and communication skills are essential. The Production Planner/Scheduler must be self-disciplined and self-motivated and the ability to comprehend the extensive production operations and schedules.
One of the qualifiers is that this position is a “one man band”. This person does everything (planning/scheduling) from cradle to grave for EVERY job. We may have 100+ jobs flowing through the queue at any time so this is a high energy, focused and detailed oriented position.
JOB DUTIES
The Production Planner/Scheduler determines and executes daily work schedules, diagnoses problems and ensures quality control, preventative maintenance and compliance with safety procedures and regulations. The Production Planner/Scheduler consider each stage of the production process to increase efficiency and productivity. The Production Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the smooth and seamless operation of the production, packaging and distribution departments.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The Production Planner/Scheduler works in a warehousing, manufacturing and production environment. The Production Planner/Scheduler works in offices and on the production floor around machinery and noise.
OUTLOOK
Our client is experiencing rapid growth and is increasingly moving toward 24-hour operation and production schedules. Production operations cannot function effectively with backlogs or stoppage anywhere on the line, so the role of the Production Planner/Scheduler is essential to maintaining a profitable operation.
