As a Supplier Quality Specialist you will be responsible for the strategic execution of Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) expectations with ingredient and finished product co-manufacturers while driving continuous improvement on key FSQ metrics.

  • Provide leadership as part of a cross functional team for the new supplier on-boarding process of ingredient suppliers and finished product co-manufacturers.
  • Lead Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) teams on the development of ingredient and co-manufactured product specifications.
  • Perform onsite FSQ audit functions to evaluate and communicate food safety risk process capability to specifications and quality program effectiveness.
  • Develop and fully manage the quality relationship with internal business partners while serving as an industry expert for food safety quality best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Develop specific Food Safety & Quality key performance indicators (KPIs) for assigned external business partners communicate performance data and hold partners accountable for meeting established metrics.
  • Receive, review, and approve FSQ documentation such as microbiological certificate of analysis (COAs) statistical process data and specification compliance analysis.
  • Provide leadership in root cause analysis activities and corrective action with ingredient suppliers and finished product co-manufacturers to drive increased compliance and reduction in complaints.
  • Serve as an industry expert through maintained knowledge and understanding of applicable regulatory and global food safety initiative requirements and best practices.
  • Perform proactive review of available industry data to identify potential opportunities for improvement to supplier and co-manufacturer performance.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred)


Years of Related Experience: 5-7 years related experience. Certifications in HACCP, HARPC, or ISO required. (Experience with Kosher, Organic, and Halal preferred.)

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledgeable in food safety procedures
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Proficiency in the operation of a computer and Microsoft Office Word
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as statistical data reports, written instructions, technical procedures, government regulations, and professional journals
  • Ability to clearly set directions conduct inspections, perform investigations, prepare summary reports, and effectively present findings in a professional setting
  • SAP knowledge preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
