Credit and Collections Manager

Newport Meat Company POSITION SUMMARY Newport Meat Company is a $300 Million revenue company. This position is responsible for reviewing, extending and monitoring credit for new and existing customers. This position is also responsible for collecting approximately $6 million in weekly sales for 1,600 customers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES: * Credit * Oversees the analysis of credit risk in current and potential customers, determining the worthiness of these accounts. * Determines course of action for new and continued credit, ensuring that payment terms are appropriate and that the account is properly secured. * Ensure timely review of new customer credit applications. * Interfaces with sales team to communicate credit decisions. * Ensure that credit activities are compliant with Sysco Corporate financial requirements including participating in Credit Audits, Operations Review Audits and Sarbanes-Oxley Audits. * Collections * Monitors the receivables DSO, implementing processes to improve cash flow and keep DSO under 27 days. * Monitors and negotiates on the collection of overdue accounts. * Assists with the oversight of processing and ensuring that guidelines are consistently enforced by credit associates for delinquent accounts; monitoring daily cut-off of credit issues. * Submits severely delinquent accounts to attorney or outside agency for collection. * Administrative * Responsible for developing and improving the operational goals of the department. * Responsible for the training, performance and development of 3 credit/collection associates. REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. * A minimum of 3 years experience in collections as an individual contributor, plus 1-3 years supervisory experience. * Understanding of credit reporting agencies (D/B / Experian). * Prior experience with UCC filings and personal guarantee. The associate is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
