A Life-Changing Career

Position Summary: These are 1 year limited tenure positions to support the current Insurance Verification team with insurance eligibility verification and insurance denial management.

The current staff's work will be transitioning to a call center environment. These positions will be needed to help maintain the volume of insurance verifications completed during this transition.

These positions are benefit eligible but do have a tentative end date of 5/30/18. At that time, these staff will either term out of the system or need to have accepted a different role with Mayo Clinic by that time.

Responsibilities: Develop and cultivate liaison with insurance companies, health maintenance organizations, managed care contract companies and third parties to obtain insurance verification data and requirements for services provided in the clinic/hospital setting, utilizing appropriate strategies, including electronic verification protocol, phone calls and online databases. Documents appropriate information, communicates key data elements, to appropriate area. Actively collaborates with Scheduling, Patient access, Insurance Verification, Patient Accounts and Business Office, to resolve problems and to address coverage discrepancies prior to scheduled appointment/admission. When necessary, prior to scheduled appointment, contact patient with insurance information and any additional information to expedite check-in.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. 1 -- 2 years of related work experience. Effective communication, critical thinking, problem solving, planning and organizational skills critical for establishing priorities and completing assignments accurately within established time frames.

Additional Qualifications: Associate or bachelor's degree from accredited institution. Healthcare or customer service environment. Knowledge of PC Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, MediTech, LSS, HPP, Cerner. Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT codes, ICD9 codes, HCPCS codes.

License or Certification: Preferred National Association of Healthcare Access Management.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.13 per hour.

Hours/Pay Period: 80

Schedule Details: Monday-Friday, daytime hours.

Weekend Schedule: No weekends.
