Job Description
Job Summary:
The RN-Physician Practice provides direct and indirect patient care in a physician practice including assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating of patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses the physical and psychological status of patients, provides interventions/treatments and evaluates effectiveness of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Prepares patients for exams and procedures and assists physician with performing select minor procedures. Collects/records vital signs, performs diagnostic tests, administers medications and collects/prepares specimens. May perform phlebotomy.
- Performs other duties as assigned, scheduling tests and appointments, providing instruction for testing and procedures, calling in prescriptions and providing referrals.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and family and provides population appropriate education.
- Improve patient safety in the delivery of health care by understanding and applying the patient safety goal for SJH/Ascension of no preventable deaths or injuries.
- Lead clinical personnel. Participates in activities and duties assigned to each area. Provides liaison between staff, management and physician.
- Respond, triage and redirect telephone calls requiring nursing attention.
Qualifications
Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

Required Credential(s):
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with the State of Michigan required.
- One or more of the following:
- Basic Life Support Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA.
Education:
- Diploma
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
Work Experience:
- 3 months of nursing experience required. Physician practice experience preferred.
