The Hire to Retire Enterprise Applications Architecture Domain Lead reports to the Director, Enterprise Applications Architecture & Innovation and will lead and manage a global team of Business Analysts and Solution Architects that are responsible for the definition, design, delivery and governance of enterprise solutions that maximize efficiency and value for the end-to-end Hire to Retire process. This role will proactively drive collaboration and engagement with HR, Payroll, Travel & Expense business process owners in delivering best practice solutions based on business & industry best practices and drive the Hire to Retire functional technology roadmap within Amgen.

Furthermore, this role will need to research, investigate and recommend emerging technologies taking into consideration process, technology and data integration impacts across other HTR platforms along with integration with other downstream systems and key HTR technologies (i.e. SAP, Workday, LMS, Fieldglass, Kenexa, Merrill Lynch, ADP etc.)

The Hire to Retire leader will assume leadership and global template governance responsibilities across the complete technology landscape and provide SME leadership to strategic initiatives across the Hire to Retire domain serving key client groups including HR, Integrated Business Services and other key client groups who are consumers of HR, Payroll and Travel & Expense related data and reports.

Key Job Responsibilities

Engages & collaborates with cross functional business partners and colleagues to ensure that assessment / implementation activities are executed efficiently and successfully.
Responsible for building and managing relationships with several key business functions, and identify ways technology can support their business capabilities
Defines and manages the Global HTR solution documentation and ensures its continued governance and evolution
Establishes and manages the maintenance of the HTR solutions along with other key HTR solution template documentation Provides consultation to application owners and business partners regarding short and long-range solutions to meet business imperatives
Recommends solutions and develops business case alternatives which anticipate the future direction of the business, its drivers and technology strategy. Proactively facilitates complex design and technical discussions, reconciling differing opinions and drives decision making process
Organizes workshops and proof of concepts within the HTR applications to illustrate solution designs and create adoption through business process owners and other subject matter experts
Leads a global team of solution architects in translation of business process and best practice requirements into executable design and estimation deliverables
Provides technical leadership and staff mentorship to global team of solution architects.
Leads a global team of solution architects in the design, analysis and estimation of business driven projects within the framework of the HTR architecture
Leads project and enhancement assessments of feasibility, impact and effort required to implement changes HTR applications
Ensures solutions developed across functions are aligned to enterprise architecture standards and principles and leverage common technology platforms and services
Supports creation of business architecture models demonstrating how products, operations and systems interoperate within the organization
Leads career development and succession management efforts to ensure retention, motivation and engagement of current and future staff and managers



Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Master’s degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems
OR
High school diploma/GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

7 or more years of experience (hands-on and management) in the core end-to-end Hire to Retire processes
Expert knowledge in the following functional areas within the Hire to Retire function:
Employee and External Worker onboarding
Staff Management
Learning & Talent Management
Benefits Administration
Compensation
Global Mobility
Payroll
Travel & Expense
Experience with key HTR applications including Success Factors, Workday, SAP HCM, LMS, Kenexa, Fieldglass, ADP, Concur
Experience with reporting solutions including Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Tableau, Cognos Workday Big Data, SaaS HCM
Strong Service Delivery mindset with domain knowledge in the Hire to Retire business capabilities including Payroll Processing
Strong ability to work in global environment with matrixed IS and business teams serving North America, JAPAC and Intercontinental regions
Strong leadership/consultative, collaboration, project management, service delivery and process improvement skills to facilitate alignment across multiple global geographies
Ability to leverage his/her experience in delivering and supporting global information systems in a regulated environment for a diverse and distributed user base while relying on a number of Enterprise shared services
Ability to build internal and external relationships and operating across functional boundaries
Ability to translate strategic opportunities and emerging technology solutions into tangible and practical plans that can be executed
Experience in business process re-engineering or process improvement, involving broad-based information systems, utilizing tools and techniques to effect business change
Ability to develop clear and detailed business requirements and design specifications that can be understood by other delivery teams and business partners
Ability to translate business requirements into design options that are cost effective, efficient, re-usable that comply with defined architectural principles and standards and that enhance the business process
Excellent analytical and problem solving, communication and presentation skills
Ability to understand business strategy and needs and support the translation into application requirements
Ability to create compelling business cases balancing business benefits and costs
Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies

Strong understanding of basic system engineering, information risk and security guidelines and architecture standards
