Responsibilities: Autonomously performs complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures for patients of all ages, under the supervision of qualified physicians for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Diagnostic sonographers take the initiative to confirm the imaging orders for completeness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity. Responsible for contacting the ordering physician if an inadequate reason for test is supplied. Sonographers utilize advanced knowledge to perform diagnostic procedures (inpatient and outpatient settings, including portable and O.R. examinations) by producing, assessing, and evaluating ultrasound images and related data. Sonographers are required to exercise independent judgment in the interpretation and analysis of exams, and provide a preliminary diagnosis of the technical findings to the physician.

Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited sonography program and/or ARDMS registered (or registry eligible) in the areas of abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) and vascular technology (RVT). Registry eligible candidates must become ARDMS registered in abdomen within 6 months of Mayo employment. Registry eligible candidates must become ARDMS registered in obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) within 12 months of Mayo employment. Registry eligible candidates must become ARDMS registered in vascular technology (RVT) within 18 months of Mayo employment.

Additional Qualifications: ARDMS registered (or registry eligible) in abdomen and/or OB/GYN as appropriate; Basic Life Support.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $29.95 per hour.
