The Opportunity:

The Business Services Manager (BSM) is at the forefront of our field operations. Working directly with franchisees, the BSM is responsible for overall market performance, growth and franchisee profitability. BSM’s are master consultants who lead the coaching and development of new and existing franchisees to teach them how to successfully “own” a salon. Our BSM’s ensure salons operate according to the Great Clips brand, provide a comfortable environment for the customer, and that each employee is able to connect with the customer. 



Your Mission:

• Provide business-consulting support to franchisees and maintain positive relationships in assigned markets to firmly establish a position of leadership and influence within the region.

• Manage the use of appropriate Great Clips tools and resources to provide service and support that will ensure operational compliance and continued growth of Great Clips salons.

• Manage the coaching and development process for franchisees to ensure they are provided with tools and resources to support continued growth of their salon(s).

• Manage the support of new salons to ensure that all plans for opening are followed and the salon has sufficient support during the critical grand opening stage.

• Conduct annual Business Reviews with franchisees to highlight performance opportunities and develop strategic goals and priorities. 

• Manage assigned market budgets throughout the year to ensure goals are met.

• Represent Great Clips at market level co-op meetings and present to market as required.

• Manage the selection, training, assessment and development of corporate employees within the department to assure maximum effectiveness, motivation, and retention of employees.

• Perform other projects, work and activities as assigned to ensure continuous service to our internal and external customers.



Your Expertise:

Don’t worry, you do not need to know how to cut hair or be from the beauty industry to be successful in this role. Along with an accomplished field operations management background in retail, food service or franchising, you will need to demonstrate your proven ability to:



• Learn, understand and lead the support of the Great Clips technical and operating systems; ability to explain the rationale and foundation for the system.

• Lead effective meetings, deliver presentations and consult using the Great Clips systems and brand materials.

• Influence, negotiate and build consensus with multiple stakeholders both internally and externally.

• Problem solve with franchisees in an effort to help them achieve business goals.

• Collaborate with peers, senior leadership, and other corporate departments to address the needs of franchisees.

• Establish credibility, subject matter expertise and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Apply knowledge of retail operations, including real estate, construction, marketing, training and operations to solve business challenges.

• Knowledge of, and skill in, using application software in an Apple environment including Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet functionality.

• Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends is required.



Desired Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree (preferably in Business, Finance or Economics)

7-10 years of progressive experience in retail, food service or franchising 

5+ years in a management position leading others
