GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Assistant Unit Manager assumes delegated accountability from the Nurse Manager for operations, scheduling and staffing for a specified period of time. The Assistant Unit Manager demonstrates expert proficiency in working with complex patients according to the unit's scope of practice and serves as a unit resource and leader. Serves as a role model for expert, contemporary; evidence based nursing practice, promoting American Nurse Association standards of car, Just Culture and People-Centered Care.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:
A. Education:
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
B. Licensure/Certifications:
* Current Michigan RN license
* Basic Life Support (BLS) for all inpatient, bedside care areas and inpatient and
outpatient surgical services- required within 45 days from date of hired or
transfer.
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required for specified care areas:
ICU, PACU, Cath Lab, Ambulatory Surgery and Emergency- required within 6
months from date of hire or transfer.
C. Training and Experience:
* Minimum of three (3) years of RN staff experience.
* Previous proven experience and expertise in clinical area.
* Previous management experience desirable.
* Computer experience necessary.
