Job DescriptionThe Traffic Office Technician is responsible for assisting the traffic office with all transportation related activities. Work assignments vary in content and scope, requiring independent judgment in prioritizing. This position requires contact with other associates, external vendors, contractors, and suppliers. This role is a critical foundation of the Logistics account operations team, and is one in which strong communication, stress tolerance, and organizational skills are key. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Responsible for assisting with all performance metric reporting.2. Respond to customer calls within a timely manner to ensure critical success factors are achieved.3. Liaison between client, claims, 3rd party warehouses and other carriers.4. Create and maintain proper transportation shipping documents according to DOT regulations.5. Act as a positive role model for team members by providing them support and assistance as needed.6. Cross train in all areas of Traffic Office responsibilities. Be flexible and provide backup coverage for Supply and Distribution Facilitator as business needs arise or as requested.7. Become efficient with all necessary Logistics computer systems and programs.8. Work with team members and BP staff to resolve transportation / shipping issues as they arise.9. Complete special projects, other duties, and tasks assigned by your leader or other SLI Management personnel.10. Perform all duties in accordance with SLI documented work instructions.11. Maintain Traffic Office files in a neat and organized manner. Perform monthly file purge in compliance with company and/or customer file retention policy.Working Hours: 12 hour rotating shifts. 24/7 operation with 7 days on , 7 days off over a two week period.6pm to 6am. Will train during the day then move to night shift.RequirementsEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:1. Two to five years of related transportation / logistic work experience preferred.2. Knowledge of logistics industry preferred.3. Ability to work in a non-structured environment with minimum supervision.4. Must be able to work in an office and/or warehouse environment. Also must be able to lift at least 10 (lbs) and withstand prolong periods of walking and/or standing.5. Strong communication and persuasive skills. Ability to build positive working relationships.6. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications.7. Ability to become hazmat certified in 49 CFR Code of Federal Regulations and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. 8. Proven analytical ability.9. Ability to make decisions and take appropriate action on behalf of the customer.10. Ability to work as part of a team and provide assistance when necessary.11. Demonstrate initiative, motivation, and tolerance for stress.12.
