Monitoring & Metrics Engineer (17015490) Description

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Infrastructure Systems Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the lifecycle, modification, and operational support of monitoring tools within a global enterprise environment. This role will act as a liaison to our Infrastructure Team, IT-Operations, and Business customers by providing capabilities assessments, aligning monitoring product to business need, and engineering technical solutions. Experience with application performance monitoring (APM), End User Experience Monitoring, Infrastructure Monitoring, Event Correlation, and Automated Remediation are highly desirable. Projects and other work as directed.

Main Accountabilities

In addition to following Chipotle’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

•Contribute to design, implementation and maintenance of monitoring systems to monitor infrastructure and applications such as: VMware, Windows AD, Storage, Cisco, and cloud technologies such as AWS and MS O365.

•Work closely with technology teams, including application development, IT Infrastructure, Network Engineering, and IT Operations to troubleshoot and solve problems using monitoring tools.

•Identifying and implementing automation for day to day operations to improve resiliency and efficiency.

•Ensuring smooth implementation of new applications and changes to the systems through sound testing procedures, capacity planning and impact analyses.

•Participate in a regular on-call rotation with other Systems Engineers.

•Consult with business units outside IT to create a fully aligned, end-to-end vision of Chipotle’s infrastructure.

•Managing relationships with the IT Network Engineer(s), Systems Engineer(s), Database Administrator(s) and Security Engineer(s) to ensure performance, functionality and compliance as it relates to internal IT SLA’s, policies and procedures.

•Responsible for documentation and analysis as required by IT best practices, internal IT Governance, external authorities and regulatory bodies.

•Aid in the resolution of applicable cloud and virtualization incidents.

•Leading smooth implementation of new systems and changes to the infrastructure through sound rollout techniques as dictated by the IT engineering team.

•Identifying, creating, writing, maintaining, and communicating policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training

•B.A./B.S. in MIS or Computer Science or equivalent experience

Knowledge/Skills

•5+ years successfully working in application performance and monitoring environments

•Heavy experience Enterprise Monitoring tools (Splunk, OPNET, SolarWinds, Foglight, etc.)

•Familiarity with Multi-Tier Microsoft Application Architecture, SOA, AWS, and 3rd Party application integrations

•Familiarity with Enterprise Networking technology, Compute Virtualization, and Distributed Storage

•Experienced with scripting and automation using PowerShell

•Ability to multi-task, and serve as a project lead or team player in a fast-paced environment with the ability to jump in and help out in areas outside of expertise if necessary

•Experience working in high availability and disaster recovery environments

•Ability to be hands-on with technology and lead in analysis and engineering resolutions

•Five (5) years of related experience in IT
