General Functions:
Working closely with the attorneys and paralegals of the global IP Law Department, the Trademark Paralegal/Docket Specialist will handle all aspects of daily docketing related to industry leading Company's global IP assets and related trademark matters.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Docketing incoming postal and electronic foreign and domestic mail for trademark, TTAB, copyrights, domain names, patents and other IP-related matters;
  • Calendaring trademark, TTAB, patents, and other IP dates;
  • Creating new trademark, patent, and other IP related database records; sending reminders to attorneys, paralegals and secretaries about upcoming deadlines;
  • Managing trademark renewals, including obtaining specimens of use and communicating with foreign agents
  • Preparing calendar reports for the attorneys and paralegals;
  • Reviewing attorneys' calendars;
  • Giving continuity to calendar dates;
  • Preparing trademark and patent status reports;
  • De-docketing database dates;
  • Maintaining the physical files;
  • Assisting on other IP related tasks as needed, and;
  • Monitor dedicated-ad copy inbox, create matters in Matter Management (Corporation Service Company), upload ad copy and correspondences, and assign for review. Upload final copy and approval correspondences, as well as miscellaneous items.
    Working Experience:
  • At least two years of direct U.S. and foreign IP docketing experience;
  • Strong working knowledge of domestic and international trademark and patent processes and laws as they pertain to docketing;
  • BA degree is preferred; it is not required should the candidate have strong applicable experience;
  • Experienced with complex docketing database programs; previous experience with IP Manager by Thomson Reuters database and with Matter Management by Corporation Service Company are preferred; and
  • Law-firm experience is preferred.
