School Bus Driver

Wes-Del Community Schools are hiring School Bus Drivers. Qualifications: The school bus driver shall have: A valid Indiana CDL license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles Attained the age of 21 Passed physical examination requirements of such provided by the State of Indiana A good driving record Satisfactory extended background check and DCS check. Position Goal: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extra-curricular programs. Performance Responsibilities: Obeys all traffic laws. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. Maintains discipline when students are on bus. Reports undisciplined students to the principal. Keeps assigned bus clean. Keeps to assigned schedule. Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects. Notifies the transportation director in case of mechanical failure or lighting problems, in writing. Discharges students only at authorized stops. Exercises responsible leadership on all school trips. Transports only authorized students. Reports all accidents and completes required reports. Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus. Keeps turn signals, blinker lights, stop lights, and windshield clean at all times. Plugs in bus when needed. Arrives at location before departure time for all field trips, extra-curricular activities, and school dismissal. Remains alert and cautious at all times. Demonstrates professional action, speech, and appearance. Refrains from personal use of tobacco, stimulants, sedatives, alcoholic beverages, profane or indecent language while on the bus or in the presence of students. Notifies transportation director in case of lateness. Provide transportation director with documentation of hours and mileage for extra trips as assigned by transportation director. Receives prior approval from transportation director for days off and provides documentation for sick or injured days off. Parks bus in designated area. Keeps adequate amount of fuel in bus at all times. Wears rubber gloves when dealing with any body fluids. Keeps immediate supervisor informed. Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Terms of Employment and Salary: Salary, length, and work year established by the Superintendent. Current starting salary is $59.93 per day. Additional compensation for athletic events/field trips available. Hiring will be contingent upon approval by the Superintendent and School Board.
