Food Server - Part-time

Altavita Village is a non-profit continuing care residential community located in the heart of the Inland Empire.

We have part-time openings for mature Food Servers.

We offer competitive pay – Hours and schedules vary, weekends included.

Job Summary:

Under supervision will take resident's meal orders, serve meals and remove dirty dishes from tables.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Greets residents and informs of daily and special menu items.
• Utilizes good communication skills with fellow team members and patrons.
• Completes all assigned closing tasks before the end of the shift.
• May be crossed trained between main, AL and Café dining areas.
• Takes meal orders and serves food and beverages.
• Sets up and clears tables; maintains the dining room in a neat and clean status.
• Ensures soup containers are restocked and perishable goods are rotated and restocked.
• Takes initiative to help other employees and acts as a team.
• Transports dirty dishes to the dishwasher. Monitors and maintains dish supplies at wait station.
• May assist with tray line duties.
• Attends departmental and in-service meetings as required.

Valet Duties:

• Assist residents and guests in and out of their vehicles; open doors when possible.
• Provide residents and guests with card corresponding to the parking space number.
• Properly park vehicles in designated spaces.
• Clean front windshield of golf carts.
• Deliver vehicle to proper resident/guest when requested by the resident/guest.
• Maintain entry way by keeping it free of trash and debris.

Education/Experience:

• Previous food service experience preferred.
• Good communication skills required.

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Language Skills:

• The ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with all levels of staff, governmental agencies, professional organizations, outside vendors, contractors, counsel, Altavita Village residents and employee's.

Physical Demands:

• Exchange information with residents, supervisors, existing employees, vendors, etc; lifting carrying, pushing, pulling and moving light to heavy objects, furniture, tools and equipment; climbing stairs, and ramps; walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands, fingers and hand/eye coordination to operate equipment and tools; kneeling, bending at the waist and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store supplies, etc; lifting light to heavy objects. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • Minimum lifting of 25 lbs is required.
