Altavita Village is a non-profit continuing care residential community located in the heart of the Inland Empire.

We have part time and full time openings for Certified Nursing Assistants.

Job Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Staff Development and the Charge Nurse, a Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct care to assigned patients and provides services that are supportive to the health and welfare of the residents.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists patients to ensure their cleanliness, grooming, nourishment, rest, activity and elimination, in a manner conducive to the resident’s comfort, safety and respect.
  • Preserves the dignity and self respect of the residents at all times.
  • Practices confidentiality about the residents and nursing care activities.
  • Promotes restorative nursing care as directed and instructed for individual residents.
  • Makes patient rounds to assess patient’s condition.
  • Keeps alert to the patient’s condition and reports changes in the patient’s attitude, behavior and physical appearance to the Charge Nurse.
  • Practices first aid measures as applicable and as instructed by the Charge Nurse.
  • Promptly answers resident call lights.
  • Transports residents as needed through the facility.
  • Assists residents in their recreational and social activities as needed.
  • Recognizes and respects the individual emotional, social and cultural needs of patients, including their religious beliefs.
  • Attends staff and in-service meetings as necessary.
  • Records pertinent information about the residents in the medical record.
  • Reports intake, output, and vital signs to licensed nurses.

Education/Experience:

  • Current certification by the State of California as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Six months experience in a long term care facility preferred.
  • Ability to keep simple records.
  • Willing to accept close supervision and correction.
  • Ability to maintain an understanding, accepting attitude and manner with residents.
  • Ability to maintain patience and tact while performing a variety of tasks that may involve unpleasant conditions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current certification by the State of California as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must possess good basic math skills.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Language Skills:

The ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with all levels of staff, governmental agencies, professional organizations, outside vendors, contractors, counsel, AFVW residents and employee's.

Physical Demands:

  • Exchange information with residents, supervisors, existing employees, vendors, etc, hear alarms, signals and bells; seeing to read, prepare and write documents; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment and residents’ personal items; kneeling, bending at the waist and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light to heavy objects; some twisting or rotation at the trunk, hips, knees and neck while providing physical assistance for residents. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Minimum lifting of 35 lbs is required.
