Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Patient Care Associate works under the supervision of the Manager, Director, Administrative Supervisor and/or Executive Director of Patient Care Services, and is responsible for the delivery of efficient, safe patient care in assigned patient care units within the scope of practice as established by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and Mercy Hospital Joplin Policies and Procedures. Duties to include admission of patients according to hospital policy, gathering of data (i.e. glucose monitoring, vital signs, height and weight), and assisting with activities of daily living (ADL's) to include bathing, dressing and undressing, feeding, positioning, comforting, ambulation, passive range of motion and other activities as necessary. Comfort in floating to units/departments with varying patient populations and unit set-up is inherent for this department. May perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: High school or GED.

Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) before seeing patients independently

Other: Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills. Mercy PCA (Patient Care Associate) training within 3 months Of hire.
