Description for Personal Care Aid : Provides patient care services under the directions of a Field Supervisor in compliance with the policies and procedures of Ashley Home Care.
Qualifications for Personal Care Aid: High school graduate or general equivalency degree (GED) preferred, current CPR/FA certification, knowledge of OSHA standards, knowledge of Universal Precautions, and successful completion of caregiver training. (Training provided for those with no experience)

All duties and responsibilities shall be in accordance with Federal, state and local laws. When serving private duty clients, the Personal Care Attendant will follow the plan of care established by the Supervisor. Functions rendered may include, but are not limited to the following:
Performs home management skills including laundry, ironing, washing dishes, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, changing linen, removal of trash, and watering plants.
Prepares meals, buys groceries, plans meals and snacks, follows low-fat and low-salt meal plans.
Assists Client/Patient in activities such as reading, conversation, crafts, needlework, games, movie and TV viewing, physical activities as tolerated.
Maintains a clean and safe environment.
Follows the Care Plan established by the Field Supervisor.
Demonstrates the ability to complete assigned tasks and ability to cooperate with other Ashley Home Care Services team members.
Arrives promptly at Client s/Patient s residence, allowing time to become familiar with the surroundings.
Assists Client/Patient with personal care, bathing, dressing and grooming.
Assist Client/Patient with simple transfers and ambulation.
Reminds client to take medication as ordered.
Maintains accurate use of the caregiver sheets and reports to the Field Supervisor any changes in Client/Patient needs or environment.
Maintains accurate use of the caregiver time and report sheets.
Reports to the Scheduler any changes in Client/Patient needs or environment.
Maintains confidentiality with regard to the Client/Patient and employee information.
Maintains good personal hygiene.
Adheres to the Policies and Procedures established by Ashley Home Care.
Maintains current CPR/FA and annual testing per policy.
Valid Driver License
Attends family conferences as required.
Services may include indoors cleaning of ceilings, walls and floors.
Services may include light yard work and watering of outdoor plants.
Basic competency prior to scheduling clients will include but not be limited to the following areas:
Basic characteristics of the physically impaired and elderly
Recognition of significant physical, emotional and mental changes in client s condition
Procedure for reporting changes to scheduling
Client and caregiver rights and responsibilities
Able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
