Sales Engineer

Supports the sales department to make sure interpretation and input of client products, design loads and other critical data are properly prepared for estimating purposes. The Sales Engineer also keeps open communication with the engineering department to make sure the most up to date design practices are considered in day to day sales functions. Provide engineering direction to Estimators, Coordinators and DSMs. Interpret contract documents and communicate with Architects/Engineers of Record/Fabricators on product design requirements Become conversant in AISC, AISI, SJI, and SDI codes and specs Work with Customer Service to review and resolve takeoff errors Conduct weekly project turnover meeting Generate pre-bid RFIs on projects Value engineer and collaborate on design build projects Optimize joist designs and design special profiles Assist with sales/marketing activities including trade shows Requirements B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent for Civil P.E. qualification Minimum Civil E.I.T. certification with desire to become Civil P.E. Good verbal and written communication skills Excellent computer skills Preferred Prior steel joist industry or structural steel design experience Civil P.E. certification Proficiency in BlueBeam ELIGIBLE FOR A 40% OF BASE QUARTERLY BONUS Job Type: Full-time Salary: $50,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year Qualification Questions You have requested that Indeed ask candidates the following questions: How many years of Civil Engineering experience do you have?
