Status: Full Time, Exempt, At-Will, Benefitted Position Summary Under the direct supervision of the General Manager and as a member of the Health, Fitness and Aquatics Team, the Aquatics Director at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center (APJCC) is responsible for successfully implementing member engagement initiatives that align with the core values of the organization in Aquatics. This position serves as a vital role in engaging and retaining members and facilitating a safe and welcoming environment that inspires members to achieve their aquatic fitness goals. The Aquatics Director is responsible for the administration, finance, program development and safety standards of the APJCC Aquatics programs. This position will have a direct budget oversight of approximately $300k, and a shared fiscal responsibility in the overall success of the Health & Fitness Leadership Team. - Ability to deliver cutting edge Aquatic program for both youth and Adults Camps
- Understanding of the fundamental skills of swimming and aquatic training with applications to develop a swim lesson program for beginner to advanced participants
- Knowledge of current industry standards and trends in aquatic fitness programming
- Strong personal skills in organization and project management
- Ability to work independently
- Strong supervision and leadership skills
- Provide ongoing leadership and supervision to a large, diverse staff team in the following:
- Recruiting
- Hiring
- Onboarding
- Evaluating
- Mentoring
- Ability to hold staff accountable when necessary
- Ability to plan, implement and maintain a program budget
- Maintain payroll within budgetary guidelines
- Ability to develop and implement a swim lesson program that aligns with budget targets
- Ability to track and analyze data
- Knowledge of aquatic certification standards and best practices
- Manage the daily operations of the aquatics facility
- Knowledge of optimal swimming pool water chemistry, temperature, and cleanliness standards
- Maintain a minimum of 5 hours per week of in ratio programming
- Ability to respond appropriately in an emergency situation
- Ability to recognize and demonstrate safe use of aquatic mechanical
- Plan and implement aquatic emergency drills
- American Red Cross Lifeguard
- ARC Lifeguard Instructor
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
- Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) a plus
- Water Fitness Certification a plus
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience and minimum 3 years of instructing group fitness classes
- Fitness Center/Community Center environment
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures
- Ability to lift a minimum of 45 pounds
- Must be able to work non-traditional business hours - nights/weekends/events, etc.
