Well-established manufacturer located near Central Islip, NY seeks an experienced Manufacturing/Production Planning Engineer.
The primary function of the manufacturing/production planning engineer is to design and document manufacturing processes as well as deciding how to build the product after the design specifications are determined. Will be responsible for planning jobs, directing workflow, cost savings efforts, manufacturing process improvements on company’s products, troubleshooting and problem solving manufacturing issues and interacting with various departments and component suppliers. This position will require a strong understanding and use of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
Duties include but are not limited to:

Will be responsible for planning jobs, directing workflow, cost savings efforts, manufacturing process improvements on company’s products, troubleshooting and problem solving manufacturing issues and interacting with various departments and component suppliers. This position will require a strong understanding and use of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Improving existing operations and incorporating new methods and processes
- Provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes such as CNC and manual machining, EDM/WaterJet process development, metal and plastic fabrication, inspection and testing, and tool & fixture design
- Develop testing methods, programs, and procedures to test products and evaluate effectiveness of existing test programs
- Design and verify tools and fixtures for assembly and calibration of new products
- Other duties as needed
- 5+ years of engineering/manufacturing experience or a BS in Engineering, Manufacturing or related degree
- Experience in project leadership position within engineering or manufacturing
- ERP knowledge required
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Internet, Epicor a plus and various CAD and CAM software applications
