The Corporate Accounting Department located in Boise, ID has an opening for a Senior Accountant, Property Accounting.

This position is Responsible for performing general property accounting related functions for a large retail company.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Major responsibility for performing all general property and lease accounting related activities
• Completes assigned tasks related to rent expense and capital lease accounting
• Ensures that property related payables are properly approved and paid in a timely manner
• Prepares periodic financial statement (cash and accrual) workpapers
• Assists in the preparation of quarterly footnotes and other financial reporting requirements
• Assists with the implementation of the new FASB lease standard (ASC 842) and provides guidance on processes and controls over leases
• Researches & applies accounting regulations related to PPE & Leases
• Supports process improvement & development around real estate accounting functions to meet the changing needs of the business
• Makes decisions & recommendations on appropriate accounting treatment for real estate related transactions
• Performs general ledger account analysis and prepares journal entries
• Maintains Fixed Asset Accounting records and reconciles to G/L
• Accounts for property acquisitions and/or disposals
• Interacts with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Real Estate, Property Management & Legal Departments on a regular basis
• Respond to inquiries from NASC, division level operations, management, and auditors
• Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Education Level:
•Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance

Experience Level:
•4 + years’ related experience
•2+ years’ experience working in real estate/property accounting

Skills and Experiences:
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
• High degree of initiative, accuracy and adaptability
• Excellent accounting skills with knowledge of rules, regulations and standards including understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Should be proficient in using advanced functionality of spreadsheet applications to perform complex financial analysis
• Excellent problem solver; capable of applying a logical set of steps, often with incomplete information, to solve complex business problems
• Capable of managing simultaneous projects, including following each through to completion
• Must consistently demonstrate a positive and consistent attitude, even in the face of obstacles

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Less than 15%

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

•Work may be performed in a temperature-controlled environment
•Must sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time
•May spend long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
•May use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
•Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
•Workday is fast paced, some evening and weekend work will be required
