 Job Summary

As a key member of the Global Reservation Sales Accounting team, the Senior Financial Analyst will work with the Sr. Manager Accounting Services to assist with the areas of financial planning and analysis, accounting, auditing, budgeting and period-end reporting for both domestic and international reservation sales offices within the Marriott Sales and Customer Care Operations (e.g., Marriott Global Reservations, Marriott Rewards, Marriott Customer Care and Internet Customer Care).  Specific areas of responsibility include managing center budgets and forecast models, managing financial analysis and reporting, providing financial support for division projects and business plans, directing the capital expenditures and accounts payable for all sites, managing and maintaining the Billing System, and performing multi-entity allocations.

To thrive in the increasingly global structure, the Global Reservation Sales Accounting team must be prepared to navigate these challenges.  The Senior Financial Analyst works closely with corporate legal, treasury and statutory accounting to facilitate the opening of International Reservation centers by ensuring all tax and legal obligations are met.


Job Specific Tasks

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:

  • Assists in the coordination and development of the annual operating and capital budgets for both domestic and international Global Reservation Sales Offices.
  • Oversees the preparation and distribution of Global Reservation Sales financial reports to brand management and senior management.
  • Completes ROI calculations and sensitivity analysis for various projects and proposals.  This information is shared with the VP of GRSCC Finance, the VP of GRSCC Operations, the Controller, and the General Managers of all GRSCC Centers highlighting reservation sales office proficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Completes financial business cases identifying potential growth opportunities in various markets both domestically and internationally.
  • Provides ad hoc analysis and recommendations to Sr. Manager of Finance & Accounting, GRSCC business leaders, market leadership.
  • Prepares the Global Sales Account (GSA’s) annual budgets and completes period payments and account analysis for the Global Sales Offices.
  • Manages capital expenditures for both the US and Canadian Reservations Sales Offices and provides quarterly reports to Marriott Business Services Fixed Assets.  Prepares period end capital account reconciliations to GRSCC leadership.
  • Assists in the facilitation of new International Centers by completing all Chartfield Maintenance and Owner Franchise Billing accounting requirements.  Ensures the allocations are setup properly in the general ledger system.
  • Works in conjunction with Corporate Tax, Corporate Legal, and Corporate Treasury and Corporate Statutory Accounting to facilitate entity inter-company relationships, transfer pricing procedures, commission mark-up percentages and establishing local bank accounts.
  • Maintains the GRSCC Billing System and is responsible for responding to all billing disputes from hotels and other internal customers.
  • Conducts evaluations and financial analysis and prepares cost analyses related to various operations.  Makes recommendations based upon this analysis.
  • Audits accounts and accounting processes and makes recommendations to improve and streamline processes and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
  • Prepares period end and year-to-date account analysis reports for reservations sales centers.
  • Prepares period end financial statements and billing account reconciliations.
  • Special projects as assigned, including ad hoc requests for information and analysis on closure ratio, booking trends, and impact to GRSCC due to global crises.
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of key business factors within all Marriott Global Reservation Sales and Customer Care Offices and identifies areas of opportunity for cost reduction.
  • Provides analytical support for large, complex, cross-functional GRSCC related initiatives.
  • Provides on-going operational and business analysis support to senior leadership to support strategic decision making using appropriate approaches, systems and resources.
  • Identifies and surfaces best practices from existing environments and areas of opportunities to increase profitability, reduce risks, and/or improve operational efficiencies.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with various GRSCC business leaders, immediate supervisor, co-workers, market leadership and the general manager s of the reservation sales offices.
  • Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for GSRCC business leaders. Responds to the more complex questions and problems with minimal guidance from immediate supervisor.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
  • MBA degree preferred
  • CPA desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office for data analysis, presentations and memos
  • Able to work under limited supervision to solve problems and implement solutions
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Marriott and hospitality industry
  • 4 + years experience in finance, accounting and/or lodging related discipline
  • 4 + years experience in a multi-call center operations environment
  • Consulting and project management skills highly valued
  • Marriott sales, finance and/or operations analysis experience
  • Experience with Microsoft office applications including Excel, Access, Word and Powerpoint
  • Extensive experience in data gathering and analysis

  • Economics and Accounting - Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, P&L statements, operating budgets, forecasting and scheduling, and the reporting of financial data.
  • Sales and Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
