About this job

As a cook at our center, you will perform a variety of tasks for our residents, including preparing and/or directing the preparation of food to be served while complying with all applicable sanitation and health standards, tray line setup, checking trays for accuracy, serving food, washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen area, and stocking supplies.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Prepare food using established production procedures, following standard recipes and special diet orders.
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of foods are preserved.
  • Determine the amount and type of food and supplies required to prepare each meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
  • Ensure that food is stored properly and safely, and maintain daily production records.
  • Complete food temperature checks before serving.
  • Prepare and serve food for special functions, as assigned.
  • Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to department manager.
  • Ensure that equipment, ovens, steam tables, and other equipment is properly cleaned and shut down.
To be successful in this position requires:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • ANSI-CFP (ServSafe) certified.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, physicians, visitors, and all facility personnel.
  • Basic computer skills.
