As a accounting intern with Footlocker.com/Eastbay you will:
* Gain insight into the daily operations of a Fortune 500 company, including accounting operations as well as strategic initiatives
* Participate in real world working experience, a variety of training exercises, and team building opportunities
* Influence the operational excellence of the department by suggesting process improvements and work-flow changes
Responsibilities:
The Accounting Intern will perform a variety of accounting duties related to financial reporting and the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's general ledger and sub-ledgers, and for the accuracy and integrity of financial information derived from them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
* Frequent use of general ledgers via preparation of select monthly journal entries, in accordance with Company policy and documented Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
* Work with Sales Tax Staff Accountant to prepare and complete monthly Sales Tax audits, in accordance with Company policy and documented Sarbanes-Oxley controls
* Work with Accounts Receivable staff to validate and complete daily receivable reconciliations in accordance with Company policy and documented Sarbanes-Oxley controls
* Preparation and analysis of select operating and financial reports
* Review associate travel expenses and reimbursement schedules on a weekly basis
* Work with manager to complete on-going process reviews and deliver recommendations for improvements
* Assist with maintenance of sub-ledger and related activity for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and/or Asset Management
* Work with manager to communicate forecast changes to Financial Analysis
* Maintain appropriate internal control documentation, as applicable, and adheres to formerly documented control procedures, to ensure ongoing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation and to prevent any audit exceptions.
* Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date written instructions for all tasks/responsibilities.
Qualifications:
To qualify for an internship with Footlocker.com/Eastbay, individuals must:
* Be a junior or senior in college, or a Spring 2018 graduate
* Arrange the internship with the educational institution on a for-credit basis, if necessary
* Schedule according to the following business hours: Summer internship hours are Monday - Friday (40 hours/week). Internships begin on June 5, 2018 and end August 18, 2018. Any exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
* Be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
* Possess strong organizational, analytical and time management skills
