ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Deck Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) is focused on all facets of equipment operation and maintenance to support the design and development of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Deck Operations courseware. The SME will have a significant role in courseware development working on cross functional teams to provide professional guidance and technical expertise on the LCS Freedom Class (LCS 1, 3, 5, etc.) and Independence Class (LCS 2, 4, 6, etc.) variants.
Subject Matter Experts will perform the following specific duties:
Understand and provide guidance on shipboard technical data such as:
o Local Operating Procedures
o Deck Operational Sequencing System (DOSS)
o Safety procedures
o Approved maintenance procedures
o Technical Manuals
Applicant must be able to interpret technical documentation and work in conjunction with instructional systems designers, 3D modelers and multi-media specialists to develop accurate and effective computer based training in a fully immersed 3D game based environment.
Suggest content topics, recommend the sequence for presenting topics, and recommend activities based on objectives.
Verify and ensure the technical and operational accuracy of the subject content and the treatment of content in materials chosen or produced for the project. Assist in performance of the planning process.
Work with and coordinate with other studio personnel to perform assigned tasks.
Consider the relationship of the subject undergoing development to other subjects in the program, making recommendations to enhance training effectiveness.
Maintain a fresh, broad, and imaginative view of the subject and its applications.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree related to maritime operations or 8 years of Navy shipboard deck and supervisory experience
Must possess or be capable of obtaining a Government SECRET Clearance
Minimum of 3 years of shipboard deck operations experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Boatswain s Mate of the Watch (BMOW)
Helmsman and Lee Helmsman
Coxswain
4 years of experience in training personnel as collateral assignment or 2 years of experience as a primary assignment, IE: Seamanship Training Team, Afloat Training Group, or Instructor
Simulation or courseware development experience
Enlisted Service in the Boatswain s Mate rate
3+ years of LCS experience; 9502 Instructor NEC/MTS preferred
Proven proficiency in PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, consulting/client management, negotiation and collaboration skills Capable of working with stakeholders at all levels
Demonstrated strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven strong ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment
Familiar with Navy Curriculum Development, AIM II and NAVEDTRA 130 desired
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
