Job Posting: Calibration Technician

The Role:

We have an exceptional opportunity for a Calibration Technician who is seeking to work in an environment that can be fast-paced, high-energy, and professionally rewarding while also friendly and team-oriented. You will be based out of the Danbury, CT facility and will report directly to the Facilities Manager.

Your primary responsibility will be to perform routine and complex work related to the adjustment and calibration of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment.

Specifically, you will complete calibrations, qualifications, and Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities with accurate and timely documentation, following policies and procedures. A successful individual within this role will support the Danbury Team in providing client support and building a high level of trust with internal facility-wide personnel.

You will need a high level of technical experience and expertise in troubleshooting issues as well as assisting in providing innovative, creative, effective, and long-term solutions. You'll also be expected to build a high level of interaction with the quality, analytical, and operations teams on-site in order to provide strategic direction and the execution of various site-wide activities.

In this role you will:

  • Retrieve, assemble, calibrate, and maintain various instruments and equipment that measure heat, light, voltage, amperage, weight, vacuum, etc.
  • Carry out reliability and performance tests on equipment and make adjustments required to adhere to government, industry, and organizational standards.
  • On average, 90 - 95% of work time will be utilized completing calibration and maintenance events.
  • Update data management / tracking databases on a continuous basis in order to provide accurate and updated equipment and calibration records at all times.
  • Be responsible for inputting and maintaining correct records and equipment information within the associated SAP and GageTrak databases.
  • Develop basic quotes or proposals in support of product development and project work.
  • Assist with the development of complex specifications and proposals.
  • Train other site personnel (as required) on the proper utilization and maintenance / upkeep requirements associated with site-wide instrumentation and equipment.
  • Plan and make sure consumables and required support equipment remain in a ready to use state for site-wide personnel.
  • Coordinate with appropriate resources in advance of intended maintenance and calibration activities to ensure all maintenance and repair needs are met with minimal impact to facility-wide operations.

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • Thorough understanding and familiarity with transducers, thermocouples / RTD's, flow meters, PLC's, balances, stability chambers, chromatography (HPLC or GC), and other general laboratory equipment as needed throughout facility-wide labs.
  • Strong applied working knowledge of GMP and NIST traceability.
  • Exceptional Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) skills.
  • Working knowledge of the MS Office software suite required.
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP, Think-and-Do PLC login, and/or GageTrak systems strongly desired.
  • Thorough understanding and a high level working knowledge of Traceability, Substitution of Standards, and Test Accuracy and Uncertainty Ratios as part of ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Thorough electrical panel knowledge and awareness / compliance with all associated safety practices.
  • Applicable professional certifications preferred (ISA, ASQ, etc.).

Your success will be measured by:

  • Developing and updating associated maintenance and calibration procedures and work instructions.
  • Completing all associated preventative maintenance and calibration requirements within specified maintenance frequencies.
  • Understanding and interpreting Government Regulations and instrumentation / calibration principles and providing subsequent training to applicable site personnel.
  • Assisting other site personnel with the development and revisions to other associated policies, specifications, and procedures as necessary.
  • Working to understand facility-wide needs and requirements through effective communication and developing intra-organization relationships through excellent service and technical abilities.
  • Ensuring unplanned requests are conveyed to the appropriate management resource and met in accordance with management direction. Effective support associated with site-wide pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation as well as manual and computer-based process control loops and systems.
  • Understanding and effective application of the in-depth concepts of calibration, metrology, and all associated repair and support actions.
