Overall Responsibility:

The Professional Services Consultant provides premier customer planning, service, in-person support and coaching to teachers and administrators using HMH programs to maintain the customer base and grow existing sales of technology products and related services. As well as providing product training and professional development, the Professional Services Consultant will drive pro-active customer support approaches to ensure fidelity, success and to gather and report results. The Professional Services Consultant will be a part of the regional service team and report to their aligned Manager, Director and Vice-President of Professional Services.

Primary Accountabilities:

Professional Learning

  • Ensure deep product knowledge
  • Provide best practice quality implementation professional learning for HMH technology programs for teachers, coaches and leaders
  • Present or support implementation/classroom/instructional activities at regional and national events
  • Consult with leadership and teachers about their professional learning needs to position HMH services
  • Provide professional learning reports following each session
  • Track service delivery and calendar

Coaching

  • Provide in-classroom coaching to teachers using HMH programs to ensure fidelity, support instruction, differentiation, and strengthen results
  • Share best instructional practices for HMH programs
  • Model regular use of assessment and report data to individualize and differentiate instruction 
  • Make recommendations for further product or service needs based on coaching visits
  • Complete coaching plans with teachers each visit
  • Provide coaching reports following each coaching visit
  • Track service delivery and calendar

Implementation, Logistics & Planning

  • Partner with the sales team to develop, manage and document implementation plans, processes and meetings for all accounts to ensure results
  • Position the implementation message, processes and offerings including technology recommendations and needs as part of sales process
  • Use implementation tools and implementation meetings to monitor plans
  • Monitor implementation and all service delivery using Sales Force
  • Liaise with national technical services staff regarding technical planning, technical audits, installation and service requests and open cases
  • Facilitate ongoing dialogue and review of customer satisfaction through proactive customer contact and discussion

Reporting, Data Collection & Analysis

  • In collaboration with the aligned manager and director, facilitate appropriate data collection to expand sales in key accounts and provide recommendations for improved results
  • Ensure that accounts are administering and tracking assessment data according to the implementation plan
  • Document instructional issues, questions and concerns specific to the implementation planning, instructional needs, and student population
  • Liaise with research and evaluation regarding research sites and strategic marketing sites

Revenue Generation

  • Collaborate with the sales team to increase sales of services, ongoing professional Learning, technical support plans and renewal, and technical services across product lines
  • Identify sales opportunities and leads for additional products and services from existing customers
  • Use service reporting as an opportunity to sell services
  • Ensure product and service upsell strategies are integrated into service delivery
  • Track order processing and delivery of paid services

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of educational pedagogy, especially reading instruction
  • Understanding of current educational context and market
  • Excellent training, facilitating and presentation skills
  • Understanding and experience with issues around adolescent literacy
  • Basic knowledge of performance data, statistics

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years K-12 Classroom teaching background (experience with reading and/or reading intervention)
  • Experience with adult learners and training delivery
  • Experience / knowledge of K-12 Intervention programs preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
  • Must have acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work in cross functional teams and as well as work independently
  • Ability to travel up to 80%. Preferably lives in a major city allowing for reasonable travel times via commercial airline
  • Commitment to further learning and training

Physical Requirements:

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Ability to travel up to 80%. Preferably lives in a major city allowing for reasonable travel times via commercial airline
  • Commitment to further learning and training
