Shift: 3rd
Starting wage: $15.00 ($1.50 shift diff)
Hours: 5:30 pm - 4:30 am
  • hours may change based on production schedule
  • some overtime and weekend work may be required
Under minimal supervision this position is responsible for safely cleaning and sanitizing a plant's facilities and production lines.

The incumbent will work closely with a sanitation team to perform various cleaning duties to ensure that standard processing equipment and infrastructure comply with government and Company rules and regulations.

The incumbent will further perform various inspections and audits to ensure proper sanitation of equipment and facility infrastructure.

This position requires the ability to understand and safely execute physical cleaning and sanitizing procedures.

The position also requires the ability to understand and take direction and the ability and willingness to work under various environmental conditions (cold hot wet dry and noisy).

Follows Sanitation schedules to conduct coarse cleaning of the facility and production line including but not limited to sweeping shoveling lifting scraping brushing to remove large particles and material. Disassembles and reassembles both production and sanitation equipment with minimal direction.

Washes and sanitizes equipment tools and facility to ensure all soil and contaminants are removed. Includes brushing and scrubbing of equipment and the facility to ensure removal of all soil.

Operates COP tanks to clean tools pipes and other disassembled equipment. Understands and executes the proper protection and prevention of damage of equipment through overspray and water/chemical use (i.e. proper equipment wrapping no direct spraying/washing of sensitive equipment etc.). Mixes and properly uses chemicals at stated concentrations and for appropriate applications to assure effective cleaning while minimizing risk of personal injury and/or damage to equipment tools or facility.

Operates CIP (Clean in Place) systems verifies execution and performs titrations to assure appropriate chemical concentration usage.

Cleans and sanitizes freezers and spiral freezers according to safety guidelines and proper procedures.

Performs environmental and pre-op inspections utilizing ATP APC or other indicator tests as assigned.

Effectively records information in tracking mechanism (e.g. Excel file paper records InfinityQS system or equivalent as directed by Sanitation Supervisor).

Conducts and executes safety audits as necessary. Verifies and records that proper procedures are completed proper chemicals and concentrations are used and cleaning and sanitizing is complete to deliver equipment and ensure that the infrastructure is clean and passes all micro indicator tests.

Performs and verifies pest control program is being executed and highlights deficiencies as appropriate. Manages and summarizes needed supplies and communicates items needed to Sanitation Supervisor. Assists production when necessary.

Fully complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for a food plant and all applicable regulatory customer and company requirements (policies procedures regulations). Fully complies with all safety policies and procedures in accordance with Company Local State and Federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.

May train lower level Sanitation employees as directed.

Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission values code of ethics policies and other standards of conduct.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Years of Related Experience: 1+ years related experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Basic math skills including the ability to add subtract multiply and divide whole numbers decimals and fractions)
  • Strong reading skills to understand documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Strong writing skills to record execution of sanitation duties and manage paperwork; Strong verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills to allow for use of data input where appropriate; Ability to operate steam and high pressure hoses
  • Ability to understand and to carry out direction and procedures related to cleaning and sanitation
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to work in various environmental conditions including hot cold wet dry and noisy environments
  • Ability to take direction from others and lead lower level employees as necessary.
