Summary

The Project Specialist position is responsible for operational readiness, training and merchandising of new stores, expansion/downsize/move and remodel/optimization projects in accordance with the company's established policies and procedures plans, design criteria and merchandise presentation guidelines. Manages and/or coordinates the activities of all members involved in the process - Contractors, Fixture Installers, District Managers, Store Managers, Project & Compliance Leads and Team Members.

Scope

* Responsible for setting up the store within the time frame established and managing the pre-opening budget and expense per project totaling approx $170K per project. Responsible for ensuring the up to $1M capital for fixtures and other improvements are executed to plan, while ensuring the $500K - $1M in inventory is received and merchandised according to company plan.

* Manages the New Store Opening and Remodel Process. Coordinates with the SSC staff, consisting of Operations, Store Planning, MIS Department, Telecommunications, Merchandising, Construction, Logistics, Store Facilities, as well as contractors, fixture installers, District Managers, Store Managers and Department Supervisors, for the efficient, effective and proper installation of store fixtures, planograms, merchandise and any other necessary materials. Provides weekly status update reports, payroll reporting, issue tracking, and prepares for and attends conference calls as necessary. Validates field execution by conducting weekly visits to closing stores to monitor progress and report status to SSC and District Leadership. Handles all project related issues and works for a timely resolution.

* Leads the communication with Store Managers and District Managers as to the progress of project, the Operational execution of store leadership and the status of training of the store team. Initiates, in a timely manner, the development of actionable plans with the SM/DM to address any opportunities which may prevent the project from completing on time and to the expected standard.

* Manages the transition from project store to an active store. Validates project completion accuracy in all areas including construction, fixturing, planograming and merchandising by completing the Project Scorecard, tracker and construction punch list. Coordinates the creation of the project final punch list with SM and DM and oversees the follow up by the store team through weekly conference calls/status reports post project. Works with SM in scheduling postproject task and payroll allocations to support bringing all project issues to resolution.

* Leads training of the Store Leadership Team on the processes needed to successfully complete the project on time and on budget. Sets daily, weekly and monthly project guidelines for staff with the SM. Manages the work of team members to ensure timeliness and quality of tasks. Works with SM to handle any disciplinary/corrective actions when necessary.

Education Requirements

* Minimum: High School Graduate or equivalent. Preferred: College degree with a focus on Business, Marketing, Communication, or Retail Management and 3 years retail experience with emphasis on Merchandising.

Experience

* Minimum: 3 years retail experience with emphasis on Merchandising. Proven effectiveness in visual merchandising, planograming, and seasonal merchandise transitions. Fixture installation and reset knowledge. Experience training new store employees.

* Preferred: 4 years' experience managing of teams responsible for the effective execution of merchandise sets, planograms and seasonal merchandise transitions. Retail project management experience. Supervisory experience in the field of fixture installation. Strong understanding of retail operations and previous experience coordinating and conducting training programs for new employees.

Other Skills

* This position requires 100% travel & Ability to be at the assigned project for 5 consecutive weeks. MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
