Youth and Family Minister St. George's by the River Episcopal Church ?? Job Description and Particulars ?? The youth and young families of St. George's by the River are vital members of our parish family, and we place great emphasis on nourishing their spiritual development, education, and ministry in the Church, the community and the world. To that end, we seek to hire a Youth and Family Minister as a member of parish professional staff. This person will share our vision of youth and family ministry, and will have the skill and passion to work with young families, and will have a demonstrated commitment to Christ's church. ?? The overarching goal of the Youth and Family Minister is the Christian formation of young families. ?? Specific responsibilities will include: ?? >Church School The Youth and Family minister will be responsible for all aspects of Church School. Including, but not limited to: ?????????????????????? Recruit, train, supervise and support Church School teachers ?????????????????????? Select, provide, evaluate appropriate curricula ?????????????????????? Oversee holiday pageant/drama ?????????????????????? Direct and oversee Solemn Communion Program ?????????????????????? Assist in the administration of our Confirmation Program ?? >High School Youth Group -Support Associate rector by developing calendar and meeting content ??? biweekly meetings ?????????????????????? -Oversee logistical aspects of the youth group: reminder calls, attendance, drivers, funds, parish-wide updates/information -Develop, organize, and run fundraisers for REACH fund: IHOW, Mardi Gras, Flower Sales, etc. -Participate in ??yearly REACH mission trip and assist in organization of said trip ?? >Jr. High Youth Group -Develop calendar and meeting content ??? monthly meetings -Oversee logistical aspects of the youth group: reminder calls, attendance, drivers, funds, parish-wide updates/information -Run the Jr. High Youth Group without the assistance of the Curate, seeking parental involvement -Organize and run fundraisers for youth fund, outreach, etc. ?? >Acolyte Program ?????????????????????? -Recruit, train and schedule acolytes for worship services ?????????????????????? -In June of each year recognize graduating acolytes by introduction to congregation ?????????????????????? and inclusion of names on plaque ?? >Provide vision and support for all lay leaders of the various components of Youth and Family Ministry. ?? >Continuing Education ?????????????????????? -Attend one youth ministry seminar per year (paid by St. George's) ?????????????????????? ?? The Youth and Family Minister will work collaboratively with parents, volunteers, and the clergy. The Youth and Family Minister will report to the Curate/Associate Rector, and will report monthly to the Vestry Liaison on his/her activities for the assigned responsibilities. It is expected that our Youth and Family Minister will be part time, including being present on Sunday mornings and for at least part of one additional weekday, not to exceed 20 hours weekly.?? ??
