Part-Time Community Reporter

We are seeking a  smart, aggressive part-time community reporter to provide coverage and grow our audience in the Presque Isle, Maine, area for our local newspaper, The Star-Herald, and our website, TheCounty.ME. The successful candidate also will provide stories that will appear in the Bangor Daily News on occasion. The reporter will write three or more original pieces each workday for The Star-Herald. He or she will cover a wide range of news, including local government, business, education, crime/courts, breaking news and state/national topics affecting area residents. Applicants should demonstrate sound editorial judgment and a mastery of grammar, know how to develop interesting stories, file on deadline and have strong storytelling abilities. A demonstrated talent with photography is a plus. Knowledge of digital office applications, including the creation of photos, videos and other multimedia along with the ability to use social media that help our audience connect online are desirable.
