Forklift Operator

This position requires material handling of materials for the plant. The majority of the material clerks we place will be in the paint plant where the utility workers are hanging parts. Candidates must be able to operate and run a forklift and understand the safety rules behind that. This facility is very large and they need to understand how important safety and using correct practices on a forklift are. They will need to understand numbers and coding work orders, etc. Loading and Unloading at bins, inventory control from time to time, picking and packing, etc.

Job Description:

 Follow all Company rules, policies, procedures and requirements especially for: safety, quality, delivery and productivity/cost.

 Receive parts, making accurate counts and comparisons to quantities noted on packing sheets, and other invoices.

 Prepare and complete all document and information required for the department accurately by following standard work requirements.

 Properly stock and warehouse any and all raw materials or purchased parts with care given to location and preservation of materials.

 Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams with swivel-hooks, hoists, or elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, or stack material.

 Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.

 Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.

 Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, or boxes and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.

 Weigh materials or products and record weight or other production data on tags or labels.

 Perform routine maintenance on vehicles or auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.

 Operate or tend automatic stacking, loading, packaging, or cutting machines.

 Hook tow trucks to trailer hitches and fasten attachments to load, unload, transport, or stack material.

 Assist other material clerks, other employees and train employees on job procedures.

 Use tools, equipment and technology, including hand or power tools, manufacturing/operations equipment and computerized or automated systems.

 Maintain work area(s) in a safe, clean and orderly fashion.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

 High school diploma or GED required.
o Previous material clerk / material handling experience, (driving a forklift, driving a stand-up forklift, or operating a pallet jack.)
 At least 1 year of work-related experience,
o Working in a manufacturing / production work environment, or working in a warehouse or stocking role, or Loading truck trailers (18 wheeler, flatbed, etc.)
