Director of Public Works The City of Ripon (Pop. 7800) is taking applications for the positiion of Director of Public Works. This is a demanding position of high responsibility. The Director of Public Works overses the day to day operations and administration of the Public Works Department.  The Deparment encompassess Capital Planning and Project Management, Streets, Storm-water, Site plan review, Operations (support of all Public Works departments), Buildings and Grounds, Parks and Forestry, Cemetarites, Solid Waste and Engineering.  The staff of 12 1/2 positions reports to the Director.  Essential Duties: Plans and directs all activities of the city's public works programs. Directs, supervises,k and coordinates all city construction and maintenance projects, involving city streets, bridges, curbs, gutters, cemetaries, parks, solid waste, advise the mayor, city council, various boards and commissions on Public works issues.Supervisory responsibilities include coordination and evaluations of employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performances, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Education: Bachelors degree in administration or engineering with 5 yars experience or 10 years experience with increasing responsiblity may be substituted for the degree.
