About this job

Come be part of Imaging's future! The Department of Imaging Sciences is seeking an ABR certified/eligible radiologist to join the division of Emergency Radiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. We are the only Level 1 trauma center within the Rochester region. This is a four-year-old expanding division. The division meets the philosophy of 24/7 attending readings 365 days per year. The division currently operates from 10pm to 8am. During the other hours sub-specialized radiologists read ED examinations. The department has state-of-the-art IT and capture equipment. Emergency Radiologists oversee all aspects of diagnostic imaging at The University of Rochester Medical Center and its affiliates. We value our excellent collaborations with Emergency Medicine, Surgery, the Trauma service, and our other radiology department specialty sections. The clinical schedule includes a seven-day shift with fourteen days off service. This provides ample non-clinical time to allow for sleep recovery and academic productivity. As the group matures this schedule is subject to change. Compensation and benefits packages are highly competitive. The University of Rochester envisions itself as a community that welcomes, encourages, and supports individuals who desire to contribute to and benefit from the institution's missions of teaching, research, patient care, performance, and community service. In a pluralistic culture, that community includes faculty, students, and staff who represent important differences. URMedicine is one of the largest organizations for medical treatment and research in Upstate New York and includes a regional Prenatal Center, Trauma Center, Burn Center and the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, an Epilepsy Center, Liver Transplant Center and Cardiac Transplant Center and also includes a major AIDS Treatment Center and an NIH-designated AIDS Vaccine Evaluation Unit. A large portion of the university's biomedical research is conducted in the Arthur Kornberg institute. The University houses one of the few centers for translational research in the United States. The imaging department is approaching 1,000,000 annual studies. Reference letter upon request. Interested candidates should send a cover letter and CV to David L. Waldman, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Imaging Sciences, University of Rochester Medical Center, 601 Elmwood Avenue, P.O. Box 648, Rochester, New York 14642, or email at David_Waldman@urmc.rochester.edu.
