Job Description
Objective:
Assist in establishing, implementing, maintaining and administering the quality requirements to meet customer expectations, through supervision of quality inspectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direction and leadership to Quality Department including people management as follows: managing performance; addressing disciplinary issues; hiring; assisting people with career development; communicating information to direct reports, passing information up the management chain and fostering open communication; ensuring team is aligned with and accomplishing goals/objectives; administrative processing; and, maintaining trust and confidentiality while fostering a team environment
Develop inspection processes, work instructions, MIF’s, GR & R studies for component parts and assemblies and train inspectors
Assist in resolution of production problems by developing and conducting dimensional investigations of component parts and assemblies.
Coordinate inspection resources to ensure completion of first article inspections and capability studies to support validation timelines
Coordinate laboratory/incoming inspection activities in order to ensure customer requirements and production demands are met daily.
Ensure ISO and other regulatory standards are followed
Promote an atmosphere of continual improvement by working collaboratively with all Phillips Plastics people
Ensure accuracy of attendance records, time cards and related records.
Carry out, maintain and document discipline.
Effectively work with all members of management and daily production staff
Some programs may have vision requirements
Other duties as assigned
Safety/Environmental:
Where applicable, individual is pre-planning safety into work activities to improve performance
Proactively identifies safety concerns
Complies with Environmental Management System program SOP’s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources
Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction
Completion of one of the following:
Submission of a continuous improvement idea
Active participation in a Phillips-Medisize sponsored committee or event
Examples include a - Rapid Improvement Event, a 5S/Lean event, Safety
Committee, Wellness Committee, Recycling Committee, Activity Committee, or
other Phillips-Medisize sponsored community outreach project/event (United
Way, Junior Achievement, etc.)
Education/Experience:
Minimum three years experience leading people.
Associates Degree in Inspection or Bachelors Degree with a focus on Quality; or equivalent mix of education and experience.
ASQC certification (is preferred)
Minimum five years’ experience in Quality aspect of industry
Required Skills/Competencies:
Leadership skills including ability to maintain confidentiality
Decision making and prioritization skills
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge in use of precision measuring equipment (CMM’s, vision system, optical comparator, chatillon, hand tools)
Working knowledge of current quality and environmental audit standards
Expertise in statistical process control (SPC), attribute charting, X&R charts, process capability studies, pareto and cause/effect charts, DOE’s
Basic computer skills (Business applications, word processing, spreadsheets, data base applications.)
