JOB SUMMARY

The ClusterEngineering Manager provides tactical direction and support to the GM's (andtheir Engineers), the Regional Director of Engineering, and the RD's throughoutthe properties in the cluster to ensure effective delivery of results, managedexecution of projects and to identify talent in the region. As a business leader, the incumbent followsthe regional direction for engineering to ensure that the regional practicesare aligned with corporate business and brand level strategies. The Cluster Engineering Manager usesengineering knowledge, skills and diverse sources of information to ensure highlevels of customer satisfaction and to maximize the financial performance formanaged units.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Educationand Experience

  • Highschool diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the engineering and maintenance orrelated professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.

OR

  • 2-yeardegree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering,Mechanics, or related major; 2 years experience in the engineering andmaintenance or related professional area; technical training inHVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

LeadingCluster Engineering Team

  • Championschange and ensures brand and regional business initiatives are implemented andcommunicates follow-up actions to team as necessary.
  • Ensuresthat regular, ongoing communication is happening in all areas of engineering.
  • Communicatesa clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desiredresults.
  • Identifieskey drivers of business success and keeps team focused on the critical few toachieve results.
  • Ensuresintegration of departmental goals in game plans.

ManagingProperty Engineering Operations

  • Actsas the subject matter expert on building infrastructure and building systemsissues.
  • Demonstratesknowledge of all engineering related management contract requirements andensures compliance with contract and reporting requirements.
  • Directsappropriate maintenance to ensure on-going appreciation of the asset.
  • Managesand controls heat, light and power and recommends current best methods forenergy conservation and economical facility operations.
  • Overseesand directs the maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public space, restaurants, propertyvehicles and recreational facilities.
  • Developsa long term plan for preventative maintenance and asset protection; overseesexecution of plan.
  • Reviewspublic space walk-through results and ensures buildings are well maintained andoperational areas have an atmosphere that meets or exceeds guest expectations
  • Managesthe physical plants including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, watertreatment and electrical systems in accordance with category's StandardOperating procedures.
  • Participatesin developing specifications and requirements for service contracts andadministers such contracts to support building needs.
  • Assistsin preparation of reports required by state agencies for water consumption,wastewater discharge and boiler emissions.
  • Researchesand analyses new engineering products on the market.
  • Introducesideas to leadership team to enable property to remain competitive.

Managing MultipleProperty Standards

  • Ensurescompliance with state, local and federal regulations.
  • Reviewsand gives input on the property ADAplan on an annual basis.
  • Buildspositive relationships with external customers such as city building/zoningdepartment, fire prevention bureau and vendors.
  • Overseesmaintenance of property life safety systems (fire fighting equipment, sprinklersystems and alarm systems)
  • Developsand leads the execution of the category's service initiatives in theEngineering department.
