The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Survey Research Laboratory (SRL) is currently seeking Part-Time Field Interviewers for a study of young Black males who have experienced violence called the SURVIVE study. The ideal candidate for a Part-Time Field Interviewer will be articulate, organized, assertive, and computer literate.

SURVIVE: Suburban, Urban, Rural Violence: Investigating Victim Experiences is a three-year study funded by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). This study will increase what we know about young Black males and their victimization experiences. This position will begin with in person training in early March 2018 and will offer approximately 3-4 months of work.

For this study, Part-Time Field Interviewers will:

  • Identify local community locations to identify and recruit study participants
  • Schedule and conduct in person interviews either in public settings or in respondent homes
  • Administer surveys and collect data from study participants using standardized interviewing techniques
  • Maintain confidentiality with all responses collected

Part-Time Field Interviewer Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in field interviewing, survey research, or field research is plus
  • Experience and comfort working with target population
  • Evening and weekend availability
  • Able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • Personal, reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
